§ Mr. Lilley[holding answer 28 July 1988]: The latest available information on the savings (after deducting depreciation and stock appreciation) of industrial and commercial companies and of financial companies and institutions for the years 1976 to 1986 is given in tables 5.6 and 5.8 of the 1987 edition of "United Kingdom National Accounts". Data for earlier years are on the CSO databank, which is available in the House of Commons Library.
