HC Deb 28 July 1988 vol 138 cc444-5W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if the railway line omitted from the current Ordnance Survey maps for the Bristol area, but which is visible to travellers on the M5 south of that town, will be included in the next printing; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moynihan

The decision to omit such features is made by the owning authority for reasons of security. The need to impose restrictions on published material is regularly reviewed to ensure that detail is not unnecessarily withheld. As a result of a recent review, following the privatisation of the royal ordnance factories, it has been decided that this railway line will be shown on the next edition of the Ordnance Survey maps of the area.
