HC Deb 28 July 1988 vol 138 c427W
Mr. Ieuan Wyn Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what was the rate of inward and outward migration in each district authority area in Wales during 1987–88.

Mr. Grist

Information at a county district level is not available. However, movements as recorded by the registration of patients with NHS doctors in different family practitioner committee areas, which correspond in Wales to the administrative counties, are given in the following table:

Rate1 of movement between each FPC and the rest of the United Kingdom year ended December 1987
Inward Outward
Clwyd 34 27
Dyfed 38 29
Gwent 21 21
Gwynedd 41 33
Mid Glamorgan 18 21
Powys 51 36
South Glamorgan 39 34
West Glamorgan 21 22
1 Rate is the number of movements recorded per 1,000 population resident mid 1987. Movements within each FPC area are not included.
