§ Mr. David Atkinson
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects that licencees of public houses will be able to implement the hours of opening allowed for under the Licensing Act 1988.

§ Mr. Douglas Hogg
The necessary amendments to secondary legislation will be in place on Monday 22 August and section 1 of the Licensing Act 1988, revised licensing hours, along with sections 3, 5, 9, 11, 13 and 14, will come into force on that date. The commencement date for the remaining sections 12 and 15 will be 1 March 1989.
