Further to my reply to the hon. Member on 20 July, the Training Commission is planning to introduce initial training as part of YTS, to provide a short period of preparation and assessment for young people who are not ready to enter a vocational training course, and need help to overcome special problems.
There are no predetermined categories of young people who would be excluded from initial training and anyone will be eligible if it is considered that they will benefit from this training provision.
