To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will ask the chairman of the Standing Advisory Commission on Human Rights when his predecessor received the representations of the hon. Member for Epping Forest against the continued discrimination against members of the armed forces and police by the Gaelic Athletic Association; and when the commission expects to report.

Representations by my hon. Friend on this issue were referred to the commission, which is an independent body, in 1984. I understand that a final completion date has not been fixed for the commission's major review of the adequacy and effectiveness of legislation to prevent discrimination on grounds of religious or political belief. However, the commission's report on fair employment (Cm. 237) referred to the matter raised by my hon. Friend, at paragraph 14.4
