HC Deb 28 July 1988 vol 138 c555W
Mr. Fearn

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how many individual representations he has received in opposition to West Essex health authority plans for Princess Alexandra hospital, Harlow, and the corresponding downgrading of St. Margaret's hospital, Epping, and the Hertfordshire and Essex hospital, Bishop's Stortford.

Mrs. Currie

[pursuant to her reply, 27 May 1988, c. 419]: The number of letters we had received direct from members of the public about changes to services at St. Margaret's and the Herts and Essex hospitals proposed by West Essex health authority was about 250, not several thousand as stated. A petition with several thousand signatures was mistakenly included in the earlier total.
