§ Mr. FreemanThe Ministry of Defence owns 87,500 vehicles which are allocated as follows:
Vehicles Royal Navy 3,000 Army 58,000 Royal Air Force 10,000 Procurement Executive 2,000 Held in vehicle storage depots 14,500 A significant proportion of the current stock runs on diesel fuel, but it is not possible to provide the precise number without disproportionate effort. Other vehicles in 577W the current stock which cannot run on unleaded petrol will not be specifically converted, but, as and when they need to be replaced, they will be replaced whenever possible by vehicles which run on either diesel or unleaded petrol.
