To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will place in the Library full details of the cost-benefit analysis carried out by the consultants he appointed to examine the future route of the A27 in the Worthing area.

Full details of the results of the economic analysis carried out by the consultants on each of their four favoured routes, using the Department of Transport's 1986 cost-benefit analysis (COBA) computer programme, are contained in the consultants' report. A copy is now being placed in the Library.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what origin and destination surveys were carried out by the consultants he appointed to consider the future route of the A27 in the Worthing area.

None. The consultants made use of traffic information surveys by West Sussex county council in 1978, 1982 and 1983, which included roadside interviews.
