To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what international sporting events the Minister with responsibility for sport, the hon. Member for Lewisham, East (Mr. Moynihan) intends to visit in the next 12 months; and what is the anticipated cost to public funds.

[holding answer 25 July 1988]: Listed in the table are the principal international sporting events overseas which I am at present planning to visit in the next 12 months and anticipated cost to public funds.

  • 13 August—Moscow Marathon, Moscow. No cost to public funds.
  • 16 September—3 October—Summer Olympics, Seoul, South Korea. Estimated cost to public funds, £5,080.
  • 20–25 October—Paralympics, Seoul, South Korea. No cost to public funds.
