HC Deb 27 July 1988 vol 138 c348W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what inquiries of local authorities he made in relation to rights of way and rights of common for byelaws made under the Military Lands Act 1892 since 1979; and how many rights of way have been stopped-up since 1979 at each site covered by byelaws made under the Military Lands Act 1892.

Mr. Freeman

Before any byelaws are made, the Property Services Agency, acting on behalf of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State, undertakes inquiries with the relevant local authorities to establish the existence and extent of any rights of way and rights of common over the subject land.

It is not possible without disproportionate effort to identify how many rights of way have been stopped up since 1979 at those sites covered by byelaws made under the Military Lands Acts 1892.
