§ Mr. LeeInformation from the labour force survey indicates that in spring 1987 there were an estimated 723,000 dependent children under 16 and 766,000 under 19 in Great Britain in households whose head was unemployed and had been seeking work for at least a year. In spring 1981, the earliest date for which the corresponding information is available, there were an estimated 330,000 dependent children under 16 and 343,000 under 19 in such households.
