§ Mr. OppenheimTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he plans to announce the appointment of the deputy chairman and members of the Broadcasting Standards Council.
§ Mr. HurdI am pleased to be able to confirm that Miss Jocelyn Barrow, OBE, has agreed to become the deputy chairman of the Broadcasting Standards Council. She will take up the appointment later in the year, following her departure from the BBC board of governors.
I am also pleased to confirm that Dr. Jean Curtis-Raleigh, the Rt. Rev. W. J. Westwood, Bishop of Peterborough, Mr. Richard Baker, OBE, Mr. Alf Dubs and Dr. R. Brinley Jones have all agreed to become members of the council.
I shall announce details of the complete membership of the council as soon as possible.
