§ Mr. MorleyTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what assessment he has made of the way in which wildlife habitats and the landscape in upland areas would be affected by the implementation of current proposals for the reform of the sheepmeat regime of the common agricultural policy;
(2) what assessment he has made of the way in which wildlife habitats and the environment would be affected by the implementation of budgetary stabilisers in the cereals, beef, dairy and sheep sectors.
§ Mr. Ryder[holding answer 25 July 1988]: The potential impact on the environment of upland areas is one of the factors which I shall be taking into account in the continuing negotiations in Brussels on reform of the sheepmeat regime. It is too soon to form any assessment of what, if any, effects on the environment can be identified following the introduction of stabilisers earlier this year.
