The aim of the strategic defence initiative research programme remains to determine the feasibility of effective ballistic missile defences, and it would be inappropriate to prejudge the outcome of such work. Accordingly, the Government continue to support the strategic defence initiative research programme and the involvement in it of United Kingdom entities.
