HC Deb 26 July 1988 vol 138 c188W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a further statement about Her Majesty's Governments efforts to secure peace in southern Africa.

Mrs. Chalker

We welcomed the announcement on 20 July of agreement to principles for a settlement in Angola and Namibia by the Governments of Angola, Cuba and South Africa. The Government have consistently called on all parties involved to follow the path of negotiation, not conflict. We also welcome recent signs of improved relations between South Africa and Mozambique.
