Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish in theOfficial Report a summarised housing revenue account, consistent with table 18.1 of Cm. 288-II, for each of the years 1982–83 to 1990–91 for (a) local authorities, (b) the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, (c) the new town development corporations in Northern Ireland and (d) Housing Corporation-financed housing in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Needham

The relevant figures for(b) the Northern Ireland Housing Executive's revenue account and for (d) support to the voluntary housing movement are given in the table. All housing functions of (a) Northern Ireland local authorities and (c) new town development corporations were taken over by the Housing Executive before 1975. The Housing Corporation does not operate in Northern Ireland: the voluntary sector is supervised direct by the Department of the Environment (NI).

taking this opportunity to examine the need for organisational changes. The assistant director of social services Lisburn unit of management would assume responsibility for Down pending completion of such a review.

Mr. McGrady

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the current position with regard to the post of assistant director of social services in the Down unit of management, Downpatrick, County Down.

Mr. Needham

This is a matter for the Eastern health and social services board. The board has advised that the assistant director of social services post in Down unit of management will become vacant from 1 September 1988. The need for the post is being reviewed.
