§ Ms. WalleyTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will adjust the rate support grant to pay additional moneys to Staffordshire county council equal to the amount of repayments made to the Severn-Trent authority as a result of the Cakebread decision on sewage hereditaments.
§ Mr. ChopeWe are considering the representations which have been made about the implications of the Court of Appeal's judgment in the Cakebread case. Rate support grant can, however, be paid only in accordance with the latest rate support grant report for each year. We shall be issuing proposals for supplementary reports for 1985–86 to 1988–89 and consulting on them later this year.
