To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the international sporting events attended by the Minister with responsibility for sport, the hon. Member for Lewisham, East (Mr. Moynihan) in the last 12 months and the cost to public funds in each case.

The following are the principal international sporting events overseas which I have attended in the last 12 months and the costs to public funds in each case.

26 July Final stage of the Tour de France, Paris. Cost to public funds, £221.
28 August World Rowing Championships, Copenhagen. No cost to public funds.
3–7 September World Athletics Championships, Rome. Cost to public funds, £717.
9 September England v. West Germany, Dusseldorf. Cost to public funds, £229.
7 November Final World Cup One Day Cricket, Calcutta. Cost to public funds, £1,905
12–18 February Winter Olympics, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Cost to public funds, £2,308.
1 April FC Berlin v. Erfurt, East Berlin.
2 April Ice Show, East Berlin.
3 April Ladies Handball International, East Berlin. Attended while on an official visit to look at the structure of sport in East Germany, at the invitation of the East German Government. Cost to public funds of entire visit, £690.
12–13 April British National Skiing Championships, Alpe d'Huez, France Slalom challenge, part of ten events initiative for disabled sport. No cost to public funds
12 June European Football Championships: Eire v. England, Stuttgart. Cost to public funds, £277.
15–16 June European Football Championships: England v. Holland, Dusseldorf. Cost to public funds, £341.
