Mr. Douglas Hogg

I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that a total of 1,240,721 man hours were spent by his officers on the care and custody of remand prisoners in the year ending 31 May 1988. Corresponding figures for other forces could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
