Mr. Fatchett

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what radioactive waste is stored at RAF Fylingdales; and what steps are taken in relation to its safety.

The only radioactive waste stored at RAF Fylingdales consists of old radar system valves, which contain an extremely low level of radioactivity This is regularly monitored, and results of this monitoring confirm that there is no hazard to station personnel or members of the public from that source.
