§ Mr. NewtonThe code of practice recommended in the Peel report on the use of foetuses and foetal material for research has been commended to health authorities. In the private sector, places approved to carry out abortions may supply foetal material for research only in accordance with this code and with the specific approval of the Secretary of State. In view of the continued advance in medical techniques since the Peel report was published, my right hon. Friend has recently set up a committee to review its recommendations.
