HC Deb 25 July 1988 vol 138 c69W
60. Mr. Andrew Mitchell

To ask the Minister for the Arts to what extent those involved in the arts have benefited from Government schemes to encourage new businesses.

Mr. Luce

As at 11 April 1988, 8,646 people involved in the arts were supported through the enterprise allowance scheme, representing 9 per cent. of the total number of people on the scheme. The Small Firms Service provides business advice and guidance to artists in terms of local market research, sales strategy, export procedures and copyright, and training is available through the training for enterprise scheme.
