HC Deb 25 July 1988 vol 138 c150W
Mr. Marlow

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the current average hourly flow at junction 12 of the M1 in both directions; and what estimate he has of these flows immediately subsequent to the completion of the M40.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The latest information available, for 1987, shows an average hourly two-way flow immediately north of junction 12 of 4,040 vehicles.

After completion of the M40 extension, expected in 1992, it is estimated that the hourly flow will be in the range 3,730 to 3,910 vehicles. This represents a reduction of between 540 and 630 vehicles per hour.
