To ask the Secretary of State for Energy how advanced are the plans to strengthen the inter-connector link in Scotland to supply the electricity market elsewhere.

The electricity supply industry is considering the scope for strengthening the link. The Government welcome this, since use of the link should facilitate greater competition in the supply of electricity.
