HC Deb 25 July 1988 vol 138 c92W
37. Mr. Alan W. Williams

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what procedures the nuclear installations inspectorate have required from the Central Electricity Generating Board for checking the integrity of the welds in the coolant gas circuit and checking for fissures in the pressure vessel at Bradwell nuclear power station.

Mr. Michael Spicer

The Health and Safety Executive's nuclear installations inspectorate has required the CEGB to carry out an inspection of welds in the reactor 1 coolant gas circuit. This has been completed satisfactorily and a similar inspection programme for reactor 2 will be undertaken next year. The CEGB is also required to complete a programme of high resolution photography of certain areas of the reactor pressure vessels by the spring of 1989, which will add further confidence to the reactor pressure vessel safety case.
