HC Deb 25 July 1988 vol 138 c121W
Mr. Cryer

To ask the Lord President of the Council what was the cost of the ceremony commemorating the Act of Settlement 1688; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wakeham

Most of the costs of the ceremony on 20 July, when Addresses were presented to Her Majesty The Queen to mark the tercentenary of the revolutions of 1688–89 and of the Bill or Rights and Claim of Right, will be borne initially by the Property Services Agency. Final figures for the cost are not yet available, but provision has been included in class XX, vote 20 and class XX A, vote 1, of the Estimates for 1988–89 for the Houses of Parliament to repay approximately £40,000 to PSA for these services; this will be shared equally between the two Houses.
