HC Deb 22 July 1988 vol 137 c874W
Ms. Harman

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will lay before Parliament a report on all aspects of responsibilities for children together with relevant reports from the Departments of Education and Environment and the Home Office every three years.

Mrs. Currie

There are already three statutory reports presented to Parliament on children's services. These are (with details of most recent report published)an annual consolidated and classified statistical abstract (Children in Care in England and Wales—March 1985: DHSS publication, February 1988), a triennial report on the exercise by local authorities of their functions in providing social services for children, and the provision by voluntary organisations of facilities for children (Social Services for Children in England and Wales 1982–84: December 1985—HoC 90), and a quinquennial report on the operation of the provisions of the Children Act 1975 (Children Act 1975—second report to Parliament: November 1984–HoC 20).

All are in the Library.
