§ Mr. John Patten[pursuant to his reply, 13 July 1988, c. 222]: At 30 June 1988, the position was as follows:

An unidentifiable number of these cases consist of fines in which the time allowed for payment has not expired. Fines are written off only after all appropriate enforcement action has been taken. There is no set time limit.
