Mr. Cryer

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the redundancies notified in the textile industry in the Bradford travel-to-work area for each month in 1988 to the most recent practicable date, stating the cause of the redundancies in each case; and if he will make a statement.

Information regarding individual firms given to the Department under the redundancy handling provisions of the Employment Protection Act 1975 is given in confidence. So far in 1988, 13 firms have submitted notifications in the Bradford area involving 587 proposed dismissals. The monthly incidence is:
