§ Sir Anthony GrantTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence what measures have been taken to ensure that members of the armed forces are aware of the recently announced outcome of the review of armed forces allowances; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. FreemanTo supplement the usual methods of communicating changes in allowances, presentations were given at major service establishments and units. In addition, a video recording was sent to ships and establishments of the Royal Navy. Also, each of the three services produced a special publication explaining the changes in broad terms to every member of their serving personnel. I have placed a copy of these three publications in the Library of the House for the convenience of right hon. and hon. Members. Work on writing the detailed regulations is proceeding.
