HC Deb 20 July 1988 vol 137 cc698-9W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether his Department is considering any plans or proposals to expand flying activity at RAF Binbrook during 1989.

Mr. Freeman

No. RAF Binbrook, which ceased operational flying in May this year, is now designated as a relief landing ground. In April-November 1989, while the runway at RAF Waddington is closed for repair, Jet Provost aircraft from RAF Scampton, which normally practice diversions to RAF Waddington, will use RAF Binbrook instead. However, the level of activity at RAF Binbrook will remain significantly lower than when the station was operational.
