To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on landfill costs in the United Kingdom in relation to those pertaining in other member states of the European Community.

There are no reliable and comparable statistics on landfill costs in the United Kingdom and other member states from which sensible conclusions could be drawn.
