To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he last met the officers of the Association of County Councils; and what matters were discussed.

Mr. Ridley

I met the local authority associations, including the ACC, at the Consultative Council on Local Government Finance on 11 July. The items discussed were my statement of 7 July on local government finance; community charge preparation costs; the development of grant-related expenditure assessment for the 1989–90 RSG settlement; and the consultation paper on capital expenditure and finance.
