HC Deb 19 July 1988 vol 137 c526W
Q149. Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Prime Minister whether, in the light of the Government's proposals for reforming the Official Secrets Acts, she has any plans to issue new guidance to(a) civil servants and (b) Ministers of the Crown about the rules and procedures governing the disclosure of official information and the mechanism for determining whether a particular proposed disclosure is authorised; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

As the White Paper on reform of section 2 of the Official Secrets Act 1911 made clear, once new legislation is in place it will be necessary to amend the conduct rules for Crown servants on the disclosure of official information, in consultation with the Civil Service trade unions.
