To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he next plans to meet the secretary of the Medical Research Council to discuss priorities for medical research.

Mr. Jackson

My right hon. Friend and I met the chairman and secretary of the Medical Research Council on 4 July to discuss the council's research programme. He hopes to meet the secretary of the council again in the near future.
