HC Deb 19 July 1988 vol 137 c551W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement about co-operation on health services with the Irish Republic.

Mr. Needham

There has been regular contact and exchange of information between Ministers and officials of the Department of Health and Social Security Services in Northern Ireland and the Department of Health in Dublin as well as regular co-operation between the two health services, for example in the treatment of patients.

The respective Health Ministers have found the exchange of information about the way similar health problems in north and south are handled, extremely valuable and are committed to continuing the process of developing further avenues of co-operation in health matters.
