HC Deb 19 July 1988 vol 137 c549W
Dr. Marek

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether there are any housing standards in the Falkland Islands for migrant workers with regard to the quality of lighting and the amount of external noise at the accommodation provided.

Mr. Mellor

In 1986 the Executive Council of the Falklands Islands agreed that the United Kingdom building regulations should be adopted as guidelines for housing standards by the colony's building committee. These cover external noise. The public works department uses British standards for lighting. No separate housing standards on the Falkland Islands apply specifically to migrant workers.
