To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the estimated percentage of hospital beds taken up by people with smoking-related diseases.

The available information for diseases associated with smoking is given in the table. Not all illness

from these diseases is attributable to smoking. In particular, smoking is only one of a number of causes of ischaemic heart disease.
