§ Mr. WrayTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) what estimates he has made of the cost of providing transport capacity in (i) the London Underground and (ii) the London overground system for an additional(a) 500,000 passengers, (b) 1 million passengers, (c) 1.5 million passengers and (d) 2 million passengers;
(2) what is the estimated cost of providing enough trains and staff for London Underground to run trains every three minutes at peak times.
§ Mr. David MitchellThe cost and feasibility of improving the service operated on the current rail network and of providing additional capacity are matters which are being considered by the central London rail study announced by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State on 25 March. Intitial results are expected shortly, but further work will be needed before a full report can be prepared.
