HC Deb 18 July 1988 vol 137 c441W
Mr. David Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received about the organisation of the security procedures in the United Kingdom domestic flights section at terminal 1 at Heathrow airport, especially at busy periods, and about the implications for delays of the current non-utilisation of available equipment; what action he has taken as a result; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

We have received one approach about this. The question of how many X-ray machines and archway metal detectors are provided at airports, and how many are staffed and operational at any given time, is entirely a matter for the airport authorities and the airlines.
