Numbers in each grade fluctuate from month to month, in accordance with operational requirements and the rates of retirements, resignations, recruitment, inward and outward transfers and secondments, and promotions. The information requested for all grades employed in the FCO is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
