HC Deb 18 July 1988 vol 137 cc442-3W
Mr. David Shaw

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has concerning delays experienced by motorists on the A20 southbound road at Sidcup road on Friday 8 July between 7 pm and 8 pm; and if he will make a statement about future improvements to, and maintenance of, this road.

Mr. Channon

Traffic out of London was reduced to one lane around the junction of A20 with A208 Court road from 7 pm on Friday 8 July in order to lay anti-skid surfacing as an accident prevention measure. The work had been postponed because of bad weather. The timing was agreed with the police.

Works on the A20 in Greenwich under consideration are: improvements to junctions with A208 Court road and B236 Green lane; closure of central reserve gaps in Sidcup road; erection of central reserve safety fence to connect with Sidcup bypass safety fence. Maintenance work is carried out as necessary.
