§ Mr. Douglas HoggRepresentations have been received from two hon. Members in recent months about the electoral system to be used at the European parliamentary elections in 1989. The European Parliament has yet to agree on a uniform procedure for elections, and the electoral system used in the United Kingdom at the 1989 elections will be the same as in 1984: in Great Britain the simple majority system, and in Northern Ireland the system of a single transferable vote.
