HC Deb 15 July 1988 vol 137 c415W
Mr. Cran

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received concerning overcrowding on trains on the main InterCity east coast line; and what discussions he has had with British Rail on the subject.

Mr. David Mitchell

We have received two representations. The replies to both made it clear that this is a management matter for BR.

Mr. Cran

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has as to how many passengers travel per day, on average, on all or part of the main east coast rail line between London King's Cross and the north-east of England.

Mr. David Mitchell

The Department does not keep information of this kind.
