§ Sir Hector MonroTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement concerning the classification of further sites in Scotland as special protection areas, under article 4 of European Community directive 79/409 on the conservation of wild birds, and the listing of further sites in Scotland as wetlands of international importance, under the Ramsar convention on wetlands of international importance, especially as waterfowl habitat.
§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonI am pleased to announce that the Government have accepted the recommendation of the Nature Conservancy Council that the following sites of special scientific interest should be classified as special protection areas (SPA) under the directive and, except as indicated, listed as wetlands of international importance under the Ramsar convention.
