HC Deb 12 July 1988 vol 137 cc99-100W
Dr. David Clark

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will apply section 20 of the Value Added Tax Act 1983 to the Meat and Livestock Commission to allow it to reclaim value added tax on non-business expenditure.

Mr. Lilley

No. The Meat and Livestock Commission is not a body to which it would be appropriate to apply section 20 treatment. However, I have agreed to meet the chairman of the Meat and Livestock Commission to discuss the impact on his members of the recent court ruling about reclaiming. VAT on non-business expenditure.
