HC Deb 12 July 1988 vol 137 c137W
Mr. Shersby

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will initiate discussions with the chairman of London Regional Transport with a view to a new objective being established to construct new routes to relieve the acute congestion of passenger services on London Underground; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State announced on 25 March the setting up of a central London rail study jointly with British Rail and London Regional Transport. The study is considering, among other matters, the possible need for extensions to London's rail infrastructure. Initial results are expected shortly, although further work will be needed before a full report can be prepared.
