Mr. Peter Robinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how much has been paid out in grants in each of the last five years by the Department of Economic Development to Donaghadee Carpets.

The amounts paid in selective assistance and standard capital grant are as follows:

In addition, the company has received assistance under various training grant schemes operated by the Department.

The actual numbers of people employed is a matter for the management of the company. I understand the average of the number of people employed over the last five years to be in the region of 440.

Mr. Viggers

I understand that last year the company made a number of temporary staff redundant. However the actual number of redundancies in any year is a matter for the management of the company.
