To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when Her Majesty's Government expect to reach a decision about the referral of the London subsidiary companies of the British Airports Authority plc for investigation by the Monopolies and Mergers Commission.

The Airports Act 1986 provides for the Monopolies and Mergers Commission, following a reference by the Civil Aviation Authority, to review and report on airport charges and operational activities at airports designated for economic regulation purposes under part IV of the Act. Airports so designated include the following subsidiaries of BAA plc: Heathrow Airport Ltd., Gatwick Airport Ltd. and Stansted Airport Ltd.
